Turns out I’m not much of a Twit

I have a confession to make. I don’t think I like Twitter. I know it’s all the rage and it’s supposed to be great for activists and starting conversations. But all the hash tags bother me. It’s like air quotes… they used to be obscure and now they’re being thrown around like beads at Mardi Gras.  Show me your cause and I’ll throw you some.

Tell me why you like it… Or why you don’t.

Happy weekend!

  1. Twitter is essentially impossible to keep up with. I see its appeal in that you can reach a wider audience than Facebook. You can follow celebrities, et. al. When I was at ISTE a couple years ago it was all the rage– teachers should build their PLN and follow this person and that person. But as I said, if you aren’t on it constantly, the volume of tweets becomes unmanageable. Lately it’s main purpose for me is drawing more blog followers ;)

    • Yeah, that’s pretty much the only reason I joined, but I don’t think it’s worth it, as I’m so annoyed with it that I probably won’t ever update it or check it. Is it selfish of me just to keep the account so nobody else can have my username?
