Hi, my name is Kelli and I’m a bibliophile.

My addiction began in 2nd grade when I first read one of Ann M. Martin‘s Karen books. It continued to be a problem through elementary, middle and high school, when I realized that reading was a perfect escape from my boring small-town life. Somewhere around 5th grade, I wrote a new (if not improved) version of “The Night Before Christmas” and read it in front of my class during our holiday party. It was well-received, and I was hooked on Phonics writing.

Continuing my escapist behavior after high school, I ran away to Charleston, South Carolina to attend Charleston Southern University for two years and finished my BA in English at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, which is where I was coerced encouraged to pursue a career English Education. And I’m so glad I did. I have loved the past eight years of teaching, and I will continue to love several more.

I have taught English at both middle and high school levels. I currently teach Special Education math and English at an alternative program. I also have a Master’s degree in Education Leadership, which currently doesn’t mean squat.

My husband and I live near Dallas, Texas with our four furry children. The Self Destruction of Joey Martin is my first YA novel, and will (hopefully) be released in November 2013.
